Customer Reviews

"I grew up eating my mom's southern country cooking. She would stamp her seal of approval on this place. Excellent meat and vegetables with generous servings at very reasonable prices. Quiet, quaint and off the beaten path in downtown Hazard to boot. Highly recommended."

"Great small restaurant. Food was cooked to order and very good. Service was great"

"I ate at this diner back in the mid 80's through the 90's when it was at the original location. Never met Frances till yesterday when we stopped in after delivery of one of our Schnauzer baby's. Food was absolutely delicious from the roast beef with gravy, fried okra, mashed taters, to the homemade peanut butter pie which was over the top and made by the owner herself! If my wife says it's good it's gooooood!! Lot of credit to Frances serving that community for so many years and for being so successful at it. She cleans up the tables, does the cooking, and everything else just as she would expect her employees to do. Great experience!!"

- Steve S.

"Last time I ate at Frances Diner is when they was at their original location, that was late 90's early 2000's before they moved. The food was great then and was amazing this time around. Came to Hazard to visit my father's hometown and Frances was the 1st place we stopped. I was in awww when I took the first bite of the biscuit and gravy, to know it still taste the same and they hadn't changed the recipe. My only complaint and if I could make a recommendation, consider adding a large portion of biscuits and gravy on the menu! (I didn't see it on the menu) Overall: Great Food, friendly staff, great atmosphere. I highly recommend Frances Diner!"

"I prefer ordering vegetarian when I can and the sides options here offered a balanced set of options that were delicious and healthy. I went with green beans, mustard greens, corn bread and macaroni and cheese."

- Karen K.

"Fantastic small town diner. Reminded me of visiting family in Southern Alabama. I got the fried porkchops, mashed potatoes, fried okra (not pictured) and fried green tomatoes. "
